Many of us at some time will face a diagnosis of cancer. Whether it be yourself, a family member or a friend, it may bring with it difficult and painful feelings.

It is important to be aware of the different kinds of cancer that a person could develop. Among the biggest cancers is breast cancer, which is the one type of cancer that affects women more than any other.

There are excellent screening programs in place now to ensure that women have the best chance of detecting any development of breast cancer as early as possible, thus increasing the likelihood that treatment can eradicate it.

All women need to do is go to their doctors for an annual mammogram screening which will highlight any kind of unusual growths, by analyzing changes and abnormalities in the tissue structure of the breast and also helping to identify the presence of any lumps.

Some other major cancers include those of the rectum and colon, or as this structure is otherwise known, the large intestine. In the large intestine cancers present as tumours that develop upon the interior walls of the system, and the cancer cells of which these tumours are comprised can often destroy surrounding tissue and then make their way into nearby organs like the lungs or the liver. In this case, once the cancer cells have spread beyond the large intestine, the chances of a full recovery drop to almost zero.

Lung Cancer is another particularly deadly form of cancer w hich will spread to other parts of the body in no time, and hence it is critical that it gets diagnosed and treated at an extremely early stage.
